About Us

About Us IconDevon Forest with the subdivisions of Buxton, Ashton, Hastings, St. Ives and all streets take their names from Old English land entities.

Buxton is the oldest and largest subdivision in the Devon Forest development; Buxton is nestled in a section of Berkeley County adjoining the City of Goose Creek within walking distance of the Devon Forest Elementary School, the Walmart Shopping Center as well as a short distance to Rite Aid Pharmacy, Lowe's, Trident Hospital and the town of Summerville.

In the early 1990's,Buxton subdivision was created by the Crosland-Burbank Co. of N.C., using Ryland Homes as its contractor. They mapped out plans for 192 homes plus a playground but, after finishing 177 homes, Crosland-Burbank suspended operations in S.C., deeded two parcels of undeveloped land to the fledgling Buxton Homeowners Association, headed by Richard Harris, and returned to N.C.

Under Richard Harris's presidency, Berkeley County created the Devon Forest Special Tax District to allow for monies to maintain the main entrance signs, street lighting and each individual neighborhood entrance sign along Devon Boulevard.

In 1999, the Buxton HOA successfully petitioned its homeowners to rewrite the outdated Crosland covenants, record them with the State and County and incorporate in the State of South Carolina as a non-profit entity. Our present-day HOA has grown from three Board members to seven and currently maintains the only democratic HOA in Devon Forest. Past presidents include Susan Leemhuis, Richard Harris, Roy Jindracek, Jason Gipson, Mark Sperry, Russ MacKay, George Neumann, and James Thompson. Our current President is Jessica Moffitt.

Buxton at Devon Forest--A community of homeowners united to maintain the beauty, safety and value of our neighborhood.
